Wound Surgical Dx™

Wound Surgical Dx™

Surgical site infections represent one of the most important healthcare-acquired infections. Although the frequency is relatively low, the increasing number of patients with complicated conditions receiving surgery has caused many facilities to focus on the reduction of surgical site infections. Most surgical wound infections show up within the first 30 days after surgery and are caused by bacteria already on the skin or inside the body of the patient, bacteria from instruments, or the hands of your nurse, physician or other provider. Patients with conditions like diabetes, immunocompromise, obesity, and smoking have a higher risk of infection following a surgical procedure. Partnering with healthcare facilities, VolenteDx has developed Wound Surgical Dx to help with identification of the organism(s) that may be present in an infected surgical wound. Additionally, the combination of Wound Surgical Dx™ and Antibiotic Resistance Dx™ can help physicians and facilities to strengthen antibiotic stewardship programs for the avoidance of adverse events and prevention of unnecessary antibiotic prescribing.
